Making your plans for a night out for the weekend? It’s always smart to start here. Friday nights we bring you the weekly report from inspectors checking in on local Tampa Bay restaurants. Keep in mind, just like where you work, we can all have a bad day so hopefully these places will clean up their act.

This week’s report shows that the most problems were found at Pho 97 in Pinellas Park. They had 44 violations according to Channel 8 and a Stop Sale was issued because they say food was not in a “wholesome, sound condition.” Inspectors found a rusty can of oysters and a container of a “mayo like substance” with some kind of “mold-like growth.” Yikes. Their Yelp reviews are pretty positive. People don’t seem to like the bright lit interior and atmosphere. They even criticize the service. But fans of Vietnamese cuisine say it’s legit. On Yelp, it gets 4 out of 5 stars.

The only other spot with over 40 violations this week was the Greek Village Deli & Restaurant in Seminole. Inspectors noted 41 issues. They say flies were a big problem in the food prep areas. Dead flies were found in the cooler. They also say they issued a stop sale on octopus because of storage temperature issues.

Here were the other spots with 20 or more problems with inspectors:

  • Hennessy’s Tavern in Oldsmar (27 violations)
  • Pipo’s Café in St. Petersburg (27 violations)
  • Deccan Spice Tampa Bay in Clearwater (33 violations)
  • JBS Seafood Takeout LLC in St. Petersburg (28 violations)
  • Los Mexicanos in Tarpon Springs (28 violations)
