This Thursday, the ferry is back that will take you back and forth between downtown Tampa and St. Pete. This 6 month run is the ferry’s second go at it and they’re making changes, according to TampaBay.com. They’ve realized this is more of a recreational thing to do instead of the unrealistic commute to work model they originally thought. It’s a 50 minute ride and finding parking and getting to the dock really wasn’t going to save a daily commuter much time.

First, it’s cheaper to ride. The $10 adult ticket is now $8. It honestly would cost more but your tax dollars are already subsidizing this. Seniors, military and college students ride half-price, $5. Kids from up to 18 pay $3. Little ones under 5 are free.

Another change – no Monday trips. They say only a few were using the ferry Mondays.

Lastly, trips will run later which again shows people are using the ferry for fun vs a way to get to work.
