Well, after much outrage, Prosecutors at Florida’s state attorney’s office have officially charged Michael Drejka, the man accused of killing Markeis McGlockton in a shooting that has been considered in Florida’s stand your ground law, with manslaughter.

Drejka was taken into custody this morning and was booked inside the Pinellas County Jail, where he will be held on $100,000 bail.

Drejka shot and killed McGlockton on July 19 claiming self defense after a fight over a parking space at a convenience store in Clearwater.

Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced July 20 that his agency could not arrest Drejka because it was “within the bookends of stand your ground and within the bookends of force being justified,” which provides immunity from arrest, the sheriff said.
