The racing league has started the Drive for Diversity program, with the goal of broadening their fan base beyond a predominantly white and male demographic.
In the pit at Saturday night's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, Brehanna Daniels was changing tires as reporters looked on. Daniels is the first African-American woman to work a pit crew in NASCAR's top series. Working along side her, Breanna O'Leary. Together they are the first female duo to work in a pit crew at a Cup race.
Previous to Daniels and O'Leary, only five women have ever worked on a pit crew in NASCAR's history!
