It’s a win for those who value their privacy. And it could prevent crooks from getting access to what’s on your phone. But law enforcement may not be too crazy about this new feature that’s rolling out to Apple iPhone users.

It’s called USB restricted mode. The update released yesterday hasn’t gotten much attention, but it can prevent someone from accessing data on your phone with a USB accessory if the phone has been locked for over an hour, according to The Verge. Cops sometimes use these if they don’t know a passcode.

According to the article, once you update your iPhone to the latest version, USB restricted mode will be turned on. You don’t need to do anything.
