A Canadian man who put a McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries on eBay on Thursday is a little peeved that eBay has decided to remove his listing due to their food policies. Dave Alexander, who purchased the McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries on June 7th, 2012, bought the food for an experiment to find out whether rumors of fast food never decaying was true or not.
After posting the meal on eBay for $29 on Thursday (July 5th), Alexander’s 6-year-old happy meal soared to a bid of $150 by 2 pm Friday afternoon.
“And I have had questions that people are asking if this is edible. I would highly recommend not. This thing looks perfectly edible but it’s been sitting in the dust for six years so don’t, don’t eat this thing!” Alexander said.
eBay pulled the cheeseburger and fries auction for violating its food policy which states that any food sold must have a “clearly marked expiration or use by date.”
