Midland's "Make A Little" Puts Feet On The Dance Floor

Midland's new single "Make A Little" is all about spreading the love, and so far it seems to be working.

Mark Wystrach of the fast-rising country trio says you can tell the song is connecting by how quickly the audience starts moving to it. "People get up and dance, man," he says through their record label of playing "Make A Little" live. "That's what you see and that's what the intention was."

Part of the reason might be those references to songs from times gone by. Just check out the chorus:

So we should make a little
Generate a little
Maybe even make the world a better place a little
We could turtle dove, Dixie land delight
You know it can't be wrong when it feels so right
It all comes down to you and me, girl
There's just not enough love in the world
So we should make a little
Then make a little more tonight

(Now go listen to Alabama's "Dixieland Delight" or "Feels So Right.")

Throwbacks are fine with Midland, of course. "It's a song that is sonically referencing, you know, stuff that was coming out of the late 80s, early 90s with Clint Black, Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakam," Mark continues. "And the message itself is like there's a lot of heavy stuff in this world and what everybody needs a little bit more of is love. So it's like, focus on that for the moment and forget the rest of the world."

Midland will have plenty of time to watch fans dance in the coming year. Their show schedule rolls steadily through October. Look for 'em in Kentucky Florida, Georgia, Missouri and California in the coming weeks. Take a closer look at upcoming dates here.
