“My name is Kendrick Lamar,” he says in the video. “And I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pullin’ up? I hope so! You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos. Let’s get it! I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans, February 9, 2025. Wear your best dressed, too, even if you’re watching from home.

The NFL tweeted from its official X (formerly Twitter) account, “Kendrick Lamar. #AppleMusicHalftime. NOLA. 2.9.2025 #SBLIX”

Kendrick Lamar played the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2022 in 2022, as part of a performance that was led by Dr. Dre and also featured Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent. He performed a medley of his songs “M.a.a.D. City” and “Alright.”

Lamar is riding high on the success of a high-profile beef with Drake; most hip-hop fans regarded Lamar as the clear victor in that battle. One of Lamar’s tracks during that time — “Not Like Us” — was a massive hit. Billboard named it the #3 song of the summer of 2024, after songs by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen (“I Had Some Help”) and Shaboozey “A Bar Song.” (Some hip-hop fans have criticized the ranking system.) Lamar has not announced if any guests will appear with him at the performance.
