I've been a big fan of this guy ever since we had him at the QYK Fun 'N Country concert about 5 years ago. Chris Janson wasn't a household name so he couldn't quite afford to buy that boat yet. He'd only had one song on the radio ("Better I Don't") and to be honest, it didn't break any sales records. But it was a great song.
Chris was the coolest artist I met that day. He signed harmonicas for a bunch of us. But my favorite thing about him was instead of locking himself up in his trailer waiting for his time to go on, he was as big of a fan as everyone in the audience was. He stood side stage and watched almost every act.
A few hit singles later, he still is as down to earth as ever. Just noticed a tweet this morning from a fan in Tampa who was hoping to see him at the Amphitheatre tonight with Sam Hunt. Unfortunately the show is sold out. This tweet goes to show you never know who's reading your posts!
Wishing I was going to see @janson_chris tonight in Tampa

Be careful you don't tailgate too late tonight. Chris goes on at 7:20. Watch for his new single!
And by the way, apparently his wife reads fan tweets too!
We have 2 comp tickets for you

#QYKGuitarPull artists get announced this morning. The one I’m most stoked for is this one. Long before he could buy himself a boat (or a truck to pull it), #ChrisJanson played our Fun n Sun concert in #Clearwater. A lot of times, artists stay in their trailer. Chris hung out with everyone, whether you worked for the radio station or catering. He handed out and signed a ton of these harmonicas. A few years and a bunch of big hits later, he’s just as humble. . . . #buymeaboat #fixadrink #holdinher #betteridont #powerofpositivedrinkin #tampa #guitarpull #strazcenter #qyk #wqyk #995qyk
